Holographic artists Rebecca Deem, August Muth and Fred Unterseher are back. Thanks to the strong interest their work garnered in sfComplex’s grand opening, they’ve agreed to host a blender this Wednesday night, June 25. They’ll discuss the history of three dimensional art and give us a back-of-the-lens perspective on the work the do. More info to come.
A Grand Opening, Indeed.
It was a grand opening, indeed, as 500 people packed Santa Fe Complex’s new home at 632 Agua Fria last Saturday, June 14. From 4:00 to 7:00, it was an SRO crowd, spilling out into grounds to enjoy the cool breeze as the evening progressed. At 7:00, the audience settled in for a one-hour Noisefold performance and lingered into the evening to savor the experience long after the lights went down on the live show. more…

Blenders are a Wednesday night feature at Santa Fe Complex, located at 632 Agua Fria St. Entrance is on Romero St. Admission is free. Light refreshments will be served; donations to defray their costs are welcome.
Numbers are metaphor: they describe the world in an abstract manner that implies their object. They can tell us how much something weighs, how tall its is or how fast it is going. Or, they can delve deeper into their objects and help us understand them in an almost intuitive way. more…
Emergence emerges today, June 14
The grand opening of Santa Fe Complex begins today at 4:00 with an open house until 6:30. There will be a brief discussion of the complex’s mission at 6:30 followed by a live performance by Noisefold, the interactive audio-visual performance group. We are located at 632 Agua Fria between St. Francis and Guadalupe. There is no street parking on Agua Fria so folloow the signs to Romero Street and parking at the rear of the complex. Santa Fe Complex will host its grand opening on Saturday, June 14 from 4p.m. to 8 p.m. at 632 Agua Fria St with a mixed media show entitled Emergence: The Interaction of Science & Art. Part program, part science fair, Santa Fe’s artistic and scientific traditions will find common ground in this special event to celebrate the newest addition to Santa Fe’s rich cultural and intellectual climate. NW Quadrant Review

The City of Santa Fe will host an open house at the complex on June 10 from 3-7 pm to present its NW quadrant plan for review. The plan includes an affordable & mixed-use housing and commercial development between HWY 599 and the city’s boundaries. The plan will be revised over the summer based, in part, on comments at this session.

Ben Lichtner, Valedictorian
sfX intern Ben Lichtner, half of the dynamic Bens duo with Ben Goldsmith, earned valedictory honors for the class of 2008 at Santa Fe Prep. The two Bens worked on the sandtable project, developing software to sense the terrain in the sandtable and display topological relief shading on it. They also worked on the fire model, which allows the user to set fire on the terrain and control its intensity with a wind vector and strength. more…
