Community Conversation with Our Neighbors in Chihuahua
| December 30, 2008 | ||
| 5:30 pm | to | 7:30 pm |
The event will be a presentation by members of CONTEC (Consultoria Tecnica Comunitaria) about the work they do in the state of Chihuahua. For ten years they have been working in Raramuri and Odami communities in the Sierra Tarahumara. They offer workshops in technological education that support the autonomy and economic self-sufficiency of the indigenous communities. They also work with youth using puppetry and theater to enable the youth to talk about issues of concern to them. They also are working to educate people about GMO corn and the need to fight to preserve native Mexican corns.
Sponsored by Santa Fe Community Partnership and Somos Un Pueblo Unido.
