Hey-Yeun Jang of New York City and Martin Back of Santa Fe offer a special presentation and discussion for Manipulated Image #9: GUTTERAL! that includes their work as well as the work of Wilfried Agricola deCologne (Germany), Niclas Hallberg (Sweden), and Paulo R. C. Barros (Brazil). It is not necessarily the grating quality of the sound that makes these works guttural, but the restless audacity of the artists to breech the boundaries of the agreeable, the proper, and the familiar.

Using Coffee to Open Doors
The Open Coffee Club is a “place for people who love startups to hang out and meet.” There are Open Coffee Clubs all over the world, the first one being hosted by Saul Klein of London, England, who wanted a place to encourage entrepreneurs, developers and investors to organize real-world informal meetups to chat, network and grow. Training Series Celebrates Artisans’ Fine Craft
“Local Brilliance,” a show of fine crafts by 20 talented Santa Fe artisans, will be held at the Santa Fe Complex on Sunday, December 6 from 11am to 5pm. New collections will include micaceous and Raku Pottery, unique jewelry, Christmas ornaments, entertaining barware, hand and tote bags, silky handwarmers, tinware, hand-painted pillows, woodcuts, baskets, cards, magnets, scarves, and woven buffalo hair bags & pillows. The 20 contributing artists have completed The Business of Art training series in product development and marketing. Santa Fe Independent Film Festival @ SFX
The Santa Fe Independent Film Festival concludes its inaugural year with an actors reception @ the Complex on Sunday, December 6th from 4:00pm – 6:00pm followed by a nine-film screening from 6:00pm to 11:20pm. The newly-launched festival will show the most provocative independent films from all over the globe, including underground cinema, art films, innovative and experimental work, guerilla projects, and politically controversial films. CK Barlow Comes to SFMax
Composer, sound designer and performer CK Barlow has created music and sound designs for dozens of video, live theater and dance projects and has instrumental pieces licensed to film/TV libraries including Prolific Art. She also performs as a soloist and with various ensembles including Out of Context and mJane. Her solo work focuses on performable laptop pieces constructed from field recordings. more…
