Year Two Begins with the Flip of a Switch
The clock slipped past nine as organizer Phil Mantione let the anticipation build until he introduced SF Complex founder Stephen Guerin at 9:20 to flip the switch on a new year at Santa Fe Complex. Dressed in a white lab coat for the occasion, Guerin thanked the attendees for their support and stepped to the FrankenSwitch to animate seven distinct kinetic sculptures, compiled from repurposed mechanical parts and electrical circuitry. This Wednesday, December 10, the City Council will decide whether to support the work of Santa Fe Complex. This important decision will determine whether we can continue our efforts at Santa Fe Complex to create a community studio building connections across art, science and technology.

We’ve had tremendous community response to the complex since our grand opening in June. You can show the councilors your support by coming to the meeting on December 10 at 7:00 in the convention center at 201 W. Marcy. December 10 Council Vote Crucial for Santa Fe Complex

This Wednesday night, December 10, the Santa Fe City Council will review a proposal by Santa Fe Complex to develop workforce skills and create economic development opportunities through educational internships, collaborative workspaces and public education programs. If approved, the city would provide up to $165,000 per year for the next three years to implement the proposal.
The meeting begins at 7:15pm at the new convention center, located at 201 W. Marcy in downtown Santa Fe. The convention center is shown in this map. sfComplex’s proposal is item 7 on the “Public Hearings” portion of the agenda, which is available here.
